The MO Republican Party has just recently launched a website dedicated to Claire McCaskill’s flip-flops, aptly bestowing upon her the moniker “Chameleon Claire” for her unrelenting efforts to blend into the political middle.

A taste…
McCaskill pretends to be a moderate in Missouri, but in Washington, she has voted like a liberal. In fact, despite McCaskill’s claim to be independent, she voted with Barack Obama 97% of the time in 2010 according to Congressional Quarterly.
And as every day she moves closer to next November’s election, every day she moves to blend in a little more. For instance:
* FLIP: McCaskill, who was one of Barack Obama’s earliest and most vocal supporters, was also a staunch supporter of the $830 billion stimulus bill in 2009. At the time, she promised that it would create “millions of jobs,” and as recently as November 2010, she described it “wildly successful.”
* FLOP: But now that she’s nearing an election, McCaskill has changed her tune. Earlier this year she told a townhall forum in Washington, MO, “Can the government create jobs? No.” And this summer, she told the Hannibal Courier Post that “we can’t create jobs with government money” and “government can’t make the economy better.”
“Chameleon Claire McCaskill adapts her positions to her audience. When she is in Missouri, she talks like a moderate, but when she goes to Washington, she votes like a liberal,” said Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Claire McCaskill needs to be held accountable for her liberal record—regardless of what she claims in Missouri. The fact is, Missourians simply cannot trust Chameleon Claire.”
This is sure to be a good site to watch in the months leading up to the election.
