Thanks to her wacky and inconsistent positioning, Claire McCaskill has continued to draw fire from the left and the right. This week, four liberal activist groups – MoveOn.org, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, and Credo Action – joined together to send McCaskill a clear and public message about cutting into any federal spending programs or entitlements. Their message was an across-the-board “DON’T”.
Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, said in a statement: "Senator McCaskill should not support needless compromises on these issues and instead go on the offense by investing in jobs and making oil companies, Wall Street and the rich pay their fair share in taxes."
Realistically her position was mostly symbolic, but it’s definitely irritating the fringe left (who often seem more concerned with going on Democrat witch hunts than getting people elected). Her ungrateful liberal allies don’t appreciate the fact that 90% of the time throughout her entire career she was right there with the rest of the Democrat caucus. (By comparison, ultra-lib Harry Reid has a 92% score)
