Here's Tommy Sower's 'truck ad':
Here's Roy Herron's 'truck ad':
We couldn't dismiss the bizarre and unlikely possibility that the two candidates just happened to put on matching outfits and decide to go standing in empty fields in front of pickup trucks, so we looked at their campaign finance reports and found they used the same company to produce the ads: Fletcher, Rowley & Riddle. That pretty much settled it.
Everything down to the field they shot the ad in is almost identical. We'd go so far as to bet that the ads were shot in the same field, and our theory is that Herron and Sowers met halfway between their homes (in a nice town called Paducah, Kentucky) to roll out the video cameras.
Now, before everybody gets nit picky over whether the ads are completely or just 95% identical, we recognize that there are several key differences between the two ads:
Roy Herron's truck has 400,000 miles on it. Tommy Sowers' truck was on the political equivalent of "Pimp my Ride".
Roy Herron opposes "Bailouts, Bad Trade Deals". Tommy Sowers opposes "Bad Trade Deals, Bailouts".
Difference #3: The Belt Buckle
Roy Herron has a bigger belt buckle.
As far as differences go, that's about it.
This isn't the first time that Tommy Sowers has been called out for copying other campaigns: earlier this year, the St. Louis Beacon caught him lifting ideas for the "Boots on the Ground" tour from Bob Graham and John Ashcroft.
Well done as usual, Tommy.
He also copies Kerry's Presidential race. He was for Obamacare, before he was against it, before he was for it. Or, was he for it and against it at the same time? Now, I'm really confused. Maybe that was his goal--to confuse us into voting for him. Ain't gonna work, Tommy.

He has been VERY clear on his view of Health Care Reform. He, as well as the majority of voters in our district, support reform. However, he said the bill that passed was not perfect (no bill is perfect) and there are some things he didn't like, but overall it was the right thing to do. What is confusing about that?? I guess when you have a small brain (like you seem to have), it is difficult to keep up.

Sorry, Tim, he was never for Prop C until after the Prop C vote. He was always unequivocally for the bill. Now, he is against the mandate which is the heart and soul of the bill? I am sure, as a London School of Economics grad, that he knows that without the mandate universal care becomes prohibitively expensive. Again, even your handy toolbox cannot hide the truth--Tommy is attempting to deceive the voters and it will not work. He voted against Prop C and we all know it. So, 'fess up, Tommy.

LBJ, you can spread your lies all you want... I know Tommy and know what he stands for and what he stands against. Your Fox (False) News Spin won't work on us educated folk!!

Tim--Its really very simple. The heart and soul of the Obama health care bill is the individual mandate. Without equivocation, Tommy said he supported the Obama bill. He never said he oppposed the mandate until after Prop C passed. He is a liar, or stupid and I dont't think he is stupid. You don't support something and then support gutting it.
