Tommy Sowers' attempt to find his own district isn't going very well. After trading in his luxury SUV for a pickup truck and driving around the District for a few weeks (this is how he 'stays in touch'), he managed to get lost again.
First, he found an 8th District, but it was in Pennsylvania - not Missouri. Strike one!
Disappointed, Tommy loaded up his GPS and set sail for Missouri. He got close, but hit the 'home' button, and instead of ending up in his district he found himself in St. Louis. Is it really necessary for him to do so many fundraisers there? Strike two!
Now lost and hopelessly confused, he headed West. On the 23rd, he held a fundraising event in Briarcliff in Kansas City. Despite numerous announcements about his activities in Kansas City, he somehow failed to mention this one. Nevertheless, Strike three!
It's nice to see him in Missouri for once, but he's still swinging and he's still missing. Sowers' problem is that there are two very different groups of people he's trying to court - and the one he's spending so much time with (and getting all his money from) doesn't live in the district. Unless he starts shipping in his supporters from New York, it’s not the sort of strategy that could work against a popular and well-liked incumbent.
