It turns out Emanuel Cleaver wasn’t the only one who faked an incident. Russ Carnahan told the public that a coffin was left in his front yard. Sounds creepy and threatening, right? It got national coverage too. But then it turned out that the 'coffin' was a prop for a peaceful protest/prayer vigil outside Carnahan's office. And the protestors took it with them when they left. It's unusual, to say the least, but there's no way that someone who saw the protest would ever be left with the impression that there was a threat of violence.
There at least has been a small effort to correct the record, not just by blogs like Gateway Pundit, but local and national media as well. Missouri media outlets have been mysteriously silent.
We now have two out of four of Missouri's Democrat congressmen faking threats and incidents to try to distract from their votes on health care. Cleaver's no stranger to lying, so we might have been willing to accept that his behavior was an isolated incident. But two? That points to a pattern of behavior, which makes it even more important to apply scrutiny to these claims. With that in mind, we eagerly look forward to Missouri media outlets continuing to ignore the story.
What about Eric Cantor creating incidents?
