Nancy Pelosi might be able to squeeze votes out of Ike Skelton (more than 95% of the time), but when it comes time to paying Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dues, she might as well not even bother. Many chairmen have only met part of their commitment, but Skelton hasn't even paid a single dollar.
On the other hand, it's somewhat understandable. When Ike Skelton traded in his moderate credentials for Nancy Pelosi's agenda, he probably didn't anticipate having his first slate of serious GOP challengers in years. The benefits of his leadership position in the House must look a lot less rosy right now.
As Skelton heads into an increasingly competitive election, it's not surprising that he might resent having to pay party dues. He's trying to tack his positions back to the right and distance himself from Obama and Pelosi, but he can't make his votes for programs like Cap-and-Tax go away.
