If you’ve been listening to Cardinals or Royals baseball in the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard Robin Carnahan’s new ad public service announcement.
Ironically, these ads about potential internet scams come at a very convenient time for Carnahan. Not only does she not have to pay for them, but she is able to receive more recognition around the state in anticipation for her Senate seat battle.
The intention of the ad becomes very obvious when Carnahan manages to shove her name in 30 second ad twice.
The Missouri GOP recently filed Sunshine law requests asking for all information related to the production, cost and communication surrounding these advertisements.
Missouri GOP executive director, Lloyd Smith, said this, “While we applaud any efforts to inform Missourians about potential scams, it seems that Carnahan is more interested in wasting airtime repeating her name than delivering quality, helpful information. The timing of these paid ads is especially suspicious considering that Carnahan is a candidate for the United States Senate.”
We at the Source applaud her political strategy; it takes a special kind of person to masquerade an ad hoping to benefit the outcome of your future campaign as a public service announcement.
