Coonrod is a Bad Choice for Nixon
Greene County Presiding Commissioner Dave Coonrod wants to be the leader of Missouri’s Department of Natural Resources.
Or, he doesn’t.
Coonrod has been contacted by the Nixon transition team.
Or, he has not.
It sounds like Coonrod already has one of the prime qualities of a Jay Nixon appointee…evasiveness.
Coonrod was interviewed by Springfield News Leader political reporter Chad Livengood after rumors he was up for the DNR post. Coonrod directly said “"The governor-elect has not been in contact with me," but also told Livengood he hasn't even been approached by Democratic Gov.-elect Jay Nixon's transition team, according to Livengood’s posted story. It turns out Coonrod has had several contacts with that transition team.
The DNR post is one of the most sought after and important posts in Missouri's executive government. It surely deserves a leader who is above deceiving the media, and the public through that media. We don’t know what Coonrod was thinking when he “frankly didn't want to volunteer” information to the reporter. Especially since he knew his answers were deceptive.
Jay Nixon should take note of Coonrod’s character and move his search elsewhere.
This activity is another example of the Spfld News-Leader not getting the story correct. Chad's headline was wrong. Life of Jason corrected the situation, for everyone's reading accuracy.
